Ideas we collected from Professor Dr. J Ali

Selling is something everyone does every single day. Many people think sales only means exchanging a product for money. But it is actually a much bigger concept. Every person sells something, like a baby selling a smile or a teacher selling their knowledge and care. The real idea is that sharing anything with others is a form of selling.

Customers do not actually buy products or services. When people buy something, they are looking for three main things: solutions, good feelings, and trust. If a seller only talks about the item, the customer will not care. A good salesperson finds out exactly what the customer needs and builds a strong relationship based on trust before selling anything.

Society used to have a very wrong idea about sales jobs. In the past, people thought that only those who failed in school or could not find a better job went into sales. People did not even want to marry their daughters to salesmen because they thought it was a risky career. However, today, sales professionals actually bring in the most money for big companies and enjoy highly respected lives.

Listening quietly is much more important than talking. Many people believe that a good salesperson must talk a lot to convince others. However, top experts say that a great salesperson should listen more and speak less. By listening carefully, you can truly understand what the person needs and find the exact right moment to offer a solution.

Paying attention to details can win huge orders. One young salesman visited a rich businessman who loved painting. Instead of talking about his products, the salesman just stood quietly all day and praised the man’s beautiful art. Because the salesman understood the customer’s feelings and made him happy, he was easily given a massive order worth ten crores.

Shyness and fear must be left behind to succeed. Some educated people are afraid of sales because they lack confidence or do not want to take big challenges. An introvert cannot succeed in life or work if they stay quiet forever. To do well, a person must let go of their fear, learn how to explain things clearly, and practice speaking openly with others.

Journey of Ahsan Shameem

Ahsan Shameem’s career in the delivery and logistics world started with a funny mistake.

After finishing his studies at Jagannath College, his first real job in 1998 was selling power machines, like voltage stabilizers, for a company called Vantage Group. He started with a small salary of 4,500 Taka. He worked very hard every day. He would walk up many stairs to hand out papers and talk to people. He always called his customers later to make sure their machines were working perfectly. Because he cared so much and followed up, he once got a huge order worth 6.5 lakh Taka!

Around the year 2000, while walking in Gulshan to sell machines, he saw a sign for “UPS.” He thought it was another company that sold power machines. But it was actually the United Parcel Service, a very big American delivery company.

He bravely asked them for a job and got it. This was the start of his true career in logistics.

At UPS, Shameem learned everything about how to safely move things from one place to another. During his training, he learned how to pack boxes, write delivery papers, and he even carried heavy boxes onto big cargo airplanes himself. He learned a very important rule there: a delivery person must treat every package with deep respect. You have to hold a package gently like a baby, and never, ever throw it.

Ahsan became a top worker. He brought in huge amounts of business because he believed in being honest and giving great service to a few good customers, rather than doing a bad job for many. His bosses saw his hard work and later sent him to Sri Lanka for special training so he could help start “Singapore Post” in Bangladesh. He built his successful life by starting at the bottom, learning every small detail of the hard work, and always taking great care of his customers.

We invited Ahsan Shameem

…because he holds a place almost no one else in Bangladesh’s delivery space can honestly claim: someone who took a widely misunderstood field – logistics and supply chain – and learned how to do it at a world-class level after mastering the strict rules of global leaders like UPS.

With over two decades of real, hands-on experience starting from the bottom, he has moved beyond just moving “trucks and boxes” to master the “smart technology and systems” that drive real delivery networks.

At a time when the local delivery industry is held back by bad habits, poor tracking and a lack of respect for the job, Ahsan offers something the market really needs – a clear, step-by-step guide for how a delivery business actually grows today. He brings top international standards to a place that often relies on guessing and shortcuts, giving clear and logical rules where there is usually only confusion.
